Artist's Description

The Midway Station is a now-abandoned gas station/market in Vernon, AZ, on U.S. 60, just about midway between Showlow and Springerville. Apparently, until the late 1990s, the Post Office used to also be located in this building. Later, according to a Yelp review, it housed a potted Peyote plant, which lost its 'button' after a 'hippy looking couple came in...probably from Phoenix'.

The sign intrigued me, especially the Stop sign in the middle of nowhere, so I also made a separate image of just the sign.
